Hello readers, just checking in since I haven’t updated the blog since the beginning of this year. This is mainly because I’ve been taking more time for myself and putting more effort into other goals I have. As a result, I’m happy to announce that I’ve finished a first draft of my first novel, which will be a fear-future 80s-slasher throwback (because it totally works, trust me).
In other news, I do plan on posting again shortly. One of my biggest posts to date has
been my Queering of Stephen King’s IT, and with news slowly coming out about the film’s 2019 sequel, including the addition of a queer character, I will be adding to it. Likewise, I’ve also been able to catch a few new films and read a couple new novels that tackle horror from the queer angle and I’m excited to share my thoughts on them.
But for now, I’ll leave you with this: Joe Bob Briggs doesn’t deserve a SHUDDER special
(Elvira does), fuck Quentin Tarantino’s Manson movie, and the horror genre is still dominated by white people which caused us to sleep on a spring/summer full of POC inclusive genre films*. BYE!
*The films include the latest Purge movie which has so far been underwhelmingly reviewed and discussed, Gabrielle Union’s home invasion thriller Breaking In, and Traffik which pits a group of mainly POC against a gang of white human traffickers.
